Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure Ride in Shanghai Disneyland Experience

Turning Ordinary Days Into Extraordinary Memories.

Out of all the rides we planned for our first day in Shanghai Disneyland, we knew exactly where we wanted to start: Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure.

It wasn’t just a random pick. Our daughter Nacha has watched Jack Sparrow countless times on YouTube, so when we told her we’d finally be seeing the real thing in person, her face lit up with pure excitement.

Walking Toward the Pirate World 🏴

The walk toward the ride already felt like an adventure. There were pirate-themed structures, ships, mini waterfalls, and even performers in costume, everything looked so alive and immersive! While lining up, we couldn’t help but take photos because the surroundings were already impressive.

Despite the long line, it moved smoothly and felt more like a casual stroll through the pirate world than just a queue. Nacha kept pointing at things, calling out, “Where’s Jack Sparrow?” Her excitement was contagious!

Real-Time Reactions: Scared, Excited, Amazed 😳🤩

As we got closer, I honestly started to feel nervous. The dark lighting, the pirate music, and the mysterious setup were a little intense but in the best way. Nacha, on the other hand, had a mix of awe and fear. She was clearly amazed, but also a bit scared of the skeletons and dramatic effects.

Me? I was excited and nervous at the same time. The background sound effects and lighting were incredibly immersive, it felt like we were stepping into the movie itself. Even before boarding, we were already whispering “Is this real?”

The Ride Itself? Mind-Blowing. 🤯

We can tell you this: the ride is a masterpiece.

From the LED projections to the boat movement and massive battle scenes, everything was incredibly detailed. There were moments that felt like we were about to crash into ships, sink into the ocean, or get caught in the middle of a pirate war.

The treasure scenes, glowing effects, and even the movement of the animatronics felt larger than life. Nacha was both amazed and speechless. Afterward, when we asked her how the ride was, she simply said, “Good.” That’s how you know her mind was blown. 😂

Is It Kid-Friendly?

Yes, but with a disclaimer. The ride is visually dark and dramatic, so parental guidance is important, especially for smaller kids who might get overwhelmed by loud sounds or spooky scenes.

There’s also a height requirement (usually 81cm or taller for this ride, please check the updated info before your trip). Nacha was tall enough, but just barely.

And one more thing: the ride narration is in Chinese, so if you haven’t watched the movies yet, I’d recommend watching Pirates of the Caribbean first. It helps you understand the storyline and enjoy the scenes even more!
