Would you believe this is only my second event with Davao Bloggers Society? 😭 I just joined during the last quarter of 2025, and to be honest, I was a little nervous at first, you know that feeling when you’re new in a group and still figuring things out?
But here’s the thing: everyone has been so warm and welcoming. My very first event was Gala for A Cause, which was already such a beautiful introduction to the community. And now this, the 19th anniversary celebration of Davao Bloggers Society, held at A Good One Café & Yogurt, just made me feel even more at home.
A Cozy Celebration with Matcha Magic
The anniversary event was simple but full of heart. Not a huge crowd, but filled with good energy, the kind where people chat freely, laugh easily, and genuinely enjoy the moment. I was with my husband, Noah, because having a plus one is better. No, sorry, no Nacha here, she has a class. Maybe next time.
The venue, A Good One, felt like a mini escape. Clean, aesthetic, and perfect for chill bonding. And since the café specializes in matcha and yogurt, we got to try their signature drinks and desserts, and even see how matcha is prepared the traditional way, using a real bamboo whisk!
I didn’t expect to geek out over matcha prep, but watching it whisked in that zigzag motion? Lowkey therapeutic. And when I learned matcha originated from Japan, I had a moment like, Wait… maybe it’s time to seriously consider that Japan trip. 🤔
My Matcha Experience
We got to choose the flavor strength, I went for mild umami, and also adjust the sugar level. We picked balanced, then added more sugar anyway… just because 😅
Taste-wise, it was smooth, earthy, and surprisingly light. Not bitter at all. It’s the kind of matcha drink you can finish without needing to “adjust” with extra milk or syrup. Definitely worth a visit for matcha lovers or even matcha newbies like me.
Yogurt, But Make It Custom
After the matcha, we moved on to their yogurt, served with toppings that you get to customize. Super fun! The yogurt had this refreshing texture, not too thick or heavy plus the pick-what-you-want toppings. Perfect palate cleanser after our drinks.
I love that balance of indulgent and “healthy” .
Games, Laughter, and the Most Witty Surprise Gifts Ever
The fun didn’t stop with food. We played games (so competitive but in the most wholesome way lol) and had a raffle-style gift exchange — with a hilarious twist.
Each gift was labeled with something super sosyal… but the actual contents? Total plot twist. Here are just a few that made us laugh so hard:
- “COACH” → actually a coachara (cooking utensil!)
- “Salon Package” → two sachets of hair conditioner 😅
- “PC Set” → stood for Pancit Canton Set (and not a computer lol)
- “2K” → two pieces of KitKat
- “Dior” → a deodorant
- “Chanel” → chanelas (slippers, of course!)
Sobrang witty and creative! It added this light and funny energy to the celebration, and honestly, I loved how it broke the ice for us newer members.
My Takeaway as a Newbie
As someone new to Davao Bloggers Society, this event meant a lot to me. It wasn’t just about matcha or yogurt, it was about belonging. Even if I haven’t been around long, I already feel like part of the family. And that’s not something you get everywhere.
Big thanks to DBS for letting me be part of this milestone celebration, and to A Good One Café & Yogurt for being such a perfect host. 💚
More events, more bonding, more laughter (and maybe more witty raffles, please). Here’s to making more memories with this awesome community.
Love lots,
