A Simple Choice in a Big Place. We Booked the Cheapest Klook Photographer in Shanghai Disneyland. Was It Worth It?

Turning Ordinary Days Into Extraordinary Memories.

There’s something about doing things the “cheapest way” that makes a trip feel a little more real.

Not because we expect less, but because we become more curious. More observant. A little more hopeful that even the simplest choice can still turn into something beautiful.

That was exactly how this experience began in Shanghai Disneyland.

We were scrolling through options on Klook, looking at photographer packages. Most of them ranged from 4,000 to 7,000 pesos, professional, DSLR setups, polished outputs. The kind you expect from a theme park photoshoot.

And then there was one option.

Around 2,800+ pesos. The cheapest.

No DSLR. Just a phone.

At first, it made us pause. You naturally wonder, okay ba ‘to? worth it kaya? But at the same time, there was something comforting about it. Simple. No pressure. Just someone capturing moments as they happen.

So we booked it.

(I’ll share the Klook link here in case you want to check it out for your own trip, it might help you decide too.)

Meeting Kuya (No Words, Just Actions)

When we met him, we quickly realized, he doesn’t speak English.

Not at all.

For a second, we didn’t know what to expect. But instead of it becoming a problem, it actually turned into something… surprisingly helpful.

He simply showed us what to do.

No long explanations. No awkward small talk.

Just gestures.

He would demonstrate the pose himself, where to stand, how to move, where to look. Sometimes he’d even act it out, and we’d just follow along. And honestly, it made everything easier.

There was no overthinking.

Just copy and go.

And maybe because of that, everything felt more natural. Lighter. Even a little funny at times, we found ourselves smiling not because we were told to, but because the whole situation was just genuinely enjoyable.

Playing Around Like Kids Again

We found ourselves at the Alice in Wonderland area, bright, playful, a little chaotic in the best way.

And suddenly, the shoot wasn’t just about photos anymore.

It became play.

He’d gesture – sleep pose here, look there, move closer. No words, just actions. And somehow, we understood everything.

There were moments we almost laughed mid-shot because of how he demonstrated the poses. But that made the photos even better, more real, more alive.

It didn’t feel staged.

It felt like we were just enjoying the moment… and he was quietly capturing it.

The Surprise We Didn’t Expect

Here’s the part that honestly made us smile even more after the trip.

According to the Klook voucher, we were supposed to receive around 60 to 80 photos. That already felt fair for the price.

But after about 24 hours…

We received 200+ photos.

And not just random shots, so many of them were actually good. Natural, well-timed, full of those in-between moments we didn’t even realize were being captured.

It felt like opening a small treasure box of memories.

And that’s when it really sank in: the results were beautiful.

So… Was It Worth It?

I think this is the part most people are waiting for.

If you’re expecting ultra-polished, editorial-level photos, then maybe the higher-priced packages would suit you better.

But if you’re looking for something else…

Something lighter. More candid. More you.

Then yes, it was worth it.

Because what we got wasn’t just a set of photos.

It was an experience that felt easy, fun, and unexpectedly generous, from a photographer who didn’t even need words to guide us.

A Quiet Realization

Travel doesn’t always have to be grand to be meaningful.

Sometimes, it’s in the simplest choices: the cheapest option, the quietest guide, the most unexpected surprises that we find stories worth keeping.

And looking back, I don’t think we’ll remember the language barrier.

We’ll remember how he showed us, how we laughed, and how everything just… worked.

Light. Playful. Real.

Love lots,

Princess Joem 💜
