Our First-Time Experience at Shanghai Disneyland’s Zootopia + Hot Pursuit Ride
One of the newest and most exciting areas inside Shanghai Disneyland is Zootopia and of course, we couldn’t miss it! 🐾
This was our first time ever stepping into Zootopia, and honestly? We were amazed from the very first step. If you’ve watched the Zootopia movie (and if your kid’s obsessed with Judy Hopps like ours 😅), this is a must-visit. It felt like walking into a real-life version of the city!
Welcome to the City of Zootopia 🏙️
The moment we arrived, we saw buildings styled after the movie, there were small details like clothes hanging outside windows, signs in Zootopian fonts, and even character mascots roaming around for photos. Nacha lit up when she saw Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde waving and taking pictures with guests! 😍
We passed by Zootopia’s famous ice cream stall (yes, the paw popsicle!) and even saw the Zootopia Transit Authority map showing the layout of the city. It truly felt immersive, like we were inside an animated world brought to life.
The Line for Hot Pursuit 🌀
As expected, the line for Hot Pursuit was long about 80 minutes, but surprisingly smooth. There was so much to see while waiting, like the ZPD (Zootopia Police Department) and themed props that kept us entertained.
Nacha was thrilled and kept asking about Judy Hopps. The inside queue had fun little surprises like prisoner lineups, hidden mice, and areas that looked like police departments. We even saw Chief Bogo’s office!
Despite the wait, we were just happy to be there together. This was our first ride as a family in Zootopia, and Nacha was tall enough to join, the height requirement is 81cm.
The Hot Pursuit Ride: Let the Chase Begin! 🚓💨
Finally, it was time to ride! We hopped into our police car and joined Judy and Nick on a mission to chase down escaped criminals around the city.
The ride was part simulation, part motion-based, and super thrilling! 💥 Lights flashed, sirens blared, the chase moved fast, and we were right in the middle of it all. Nacha was holding on tight but smiling the whole time (yes, she loved it, even if she was slightly overwhelmed!).
We had a combination of POV and reaction shots, so if you want to see how real it felt, check out the vlog!
Shopping Time at the Zootopia Souvenir Store 🛍️
After the ride, like most Disney rides, you exit straight into the souvenir shop. Everything was Zootopia-themed, wearable tails, plushies, bubbles, and more. Of course, we let Nacha pick something small (but honestly, everything was so cute, it was hard to choose!).
We ended up buying one little souvenir, a Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde bubble machine. Price is 185 RMB, and even though they were on the pricier side, they were adorable keepsakes.
Our Honest Thoughts ❤️
Zootopia is a must-see area in Shanghai Disneyland, especially for families and fans of the movie. From the immersive city design to the thrilling ride and character encounters, it’s fun for both kids and adults.
- ✨ Nacha’s reaction: “Cute! I love it!”
- 🚓 Ride rating: 9/10 (fun, immersive, and not too scary!)
- 👨👩👧 Family-friendly: Yes, but still PG (parents should guide small kids)
- 🕒 Waiting time: Long but worth it!
This wasn’t just a ride, it was a whole Zootopia experience, and we’re so happy we got to do it together as a family.
Love lots 💙💛❤️,
